PROTOCOL
I am indeed once again very honoured and pleased to witness the commissioning ceremony of Al-Ansar Radio and Television Station after presiding over groundbreaking ceremony of the proposed Al-Ansar University and commissioning of Al-Ansar Academy all strategically sited in Maiduguri.
The Al-Ansar Foundation, founded in 2001 focusses on assisting the less privileged in our society in creating more access to education, public health and humanitarian efforts. The Foundation is also interested in impacting good ideals and principles through promotion of peaceful co-existence by educating and informing the citizens the importance and relevance of peace and harmony as panacea for development in Borno and the Northeast in general.
2. Mass communication through electronic or print techniques is an effective means of sending information across wide spectrum of society and this process is very critical to the development of any society. It is indeed a veritable treasure that must be handled carefully and diligently for any organisation to achieve its set out objectives. I therefore commend the Al-Ansar Foundation for recognizing the role mass media play in educating and creating mass awareness as well as an effective and powerful tool for national development.
Ladies and gentlemen, the establishment of this Radio and Television Station at this time in Borno is not only crucial but for all intends and purpose practically necessary, if we are to proceed from where we are today to where we expect to be tomorrow specially after going through 10 years of harrowing experience of the insurgency in all its ramifications.
3. The Radio and Television Station is a monumental achievement of the Al-Ansar Foundation and shall no doubt go a long way in complementing Government efforts in this direction. Moreso, our experience in the last 10 years call for tremendous efforts at deradicalization process after the insurgents infused radical and negative ideas into the minds of our youths. The role of Al-Ansar Radio and Television is therefore very important as this avails our learned scholars the platforms and opportunity to educate, enlighten and facilitate ideological shift necessary to promote peaceful co-existence and appreciate the value of fellow human being without recourse to tribe, creed or colour.
At this point, may I call on all and sundry to extend their support to our illustrious son Dr Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni, to sustain all the good efforts he has initiated and also emulate from such gestures as Government alone cannot achieve all our desired dreams.
On my part, I wish to assure the Al-Ansar Foundation of our support at all time and commitment to co-operate and collaborate with it to achieve all the objectives they have set out for the progress of Borno State. May I also call on good people of Borno State to patronise all the Al-Ansar establishments and consider it as partner in the collective development of our State. May Allah reward you and ensure our progress as you forge ahead.
