Remarks By His Excellency, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, FNSE, mni

Executive Governor of Borno State on the Occasion of the Official  Commissioning of Al-Ansar Academy  on Monday, 4th January, 2021  At Gombole Road, Old GRA  Maiduguri.

PROTOCOL

Let me start by appreciating the special wisdom that informed the decision of the Founder and President of Al-Ansar Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni, to establish Al-Ansar Academy in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. This landmark project could not have come at a better time than now considering the fact that lots of our educational infrastructures were destroyed by the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents both within and outside the State Capital.

2.         As you are all aware, Borno State is educationally backward and the decade long insurgency did more damage to the education sector. What is required now is concerted efforts to put the sector back to its rightful place. However, I strongly believed that Al-Ansar Academy shall cover some gaps in the sector and create job opportunities to our teaming youths. More so, the project will no doubt impact positively on the socioeconomic development of the Sate and help speedy recovery in this regard.

Al-Ansar Academy is not entirely a new academic off shoot of An-Ansar Foundation, but a culmination of a permanent site aimed at boosting the education section by creating avenue for more access to education especially at this critical period of our State. With the accomplishment of the construction of this permanent site, the Al-Ansar

3.         Academy will admit even more students thereby creating more jobs opportunities.

Education as you all know is one of the vital points in the 10 Pack Transformation Agenda of our administration. Therefore, Government accord special priority to it to shift the sector to see how best we can improve it to get the desired result for the overall development of the State.

We are currently overhauling the education sector through robust policies and programmes which will enable us to redesign the schools’ system.

Our doors are always open to those who are willing to invest in education in the State. Government shall give them all the needed support to operate freely in conformity with the laws of the land and our transformation agenda.

4.         With this few remarks, I once again commend the efforts of Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni, and urge other individuals to emulate him for the attainment of Borno State of our dream.

Thank you and God bless.
