Sunday, 3rd September, 2023

The Founder and President of Al-Ansar Foundation, Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni led a delegation to pay a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, today 3rd September, 2023 at the Kano State Government House.

The Founder and President is in Kano on official function to visit the 200 students of the Mariri Orphanage Boarding School of which the Foundation has been supporting for the past 5 years.

In his remark, Dr. Mohammed Kyari Dikwa, mni extolled the Governor and his administration’s efforts in revamping the education sector and his passion for the welfare and well being of the people of Kano State wherever they may be. He also applauded the renewed policy of the Governor in the area of supporting women and children, especially the planned mass marriage of over 1,000 couples in the state all in his desire to mitigating hardship and ameliorating the sufferings of the less privileged members of the society. It may be interesting to note that the students were first brought to Kano State from Borno State when His Excellency Kashim Shettima was the Governor of Borno State in 2015 at the request of His Excellency, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Governor Kwankwaso was particularly pained by the aggravating insurgency challenge faced by the people of Borno State at that time and felt that as partners in progress, the need for adoption of orphans from Borno State was necessary, hence the handing over of the 200 orphans to the care of the Kano State Government by the Kashim Shettima-led administration. Since then, the Kano State Government kept these 200 students in a boarding facility and has continued to support them in their educational pursuits and welfare till date.

Earlier, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed his profound appreciation to the Founder and President and his team for the magnanimous effort in supporting the orphans and stated that the noble virtues of this great Foundation should be emulated by all well meaning Nigerians of goodwill. Meanwhile, while assuring his commitment in partnering with the Al-Ansar Foundation in the areas of Education, Healthcare, Security and Media Coverage of its programs and activities, the Kano State Governor wished the President well and prayed for his safe trip back home.

Highlights of the visit include group photographs with His Excellency Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf and members of the Al-Ansar Foundation led by its Founder and President as well as distribution of assorted foodstuff and non-food items and token sum of N500,000 to the staff of the orphanage school through the Kano State Ministry of Education at the Mariri Orphanage Boarding School.
